------
"This One" laid the groundwork for The Big Creak's sound (debut, 1999).
A fresh and cohesive blend of rock, pop, folk, funk, and jam music; lyrics focusing on heartbreak, change, and making decisions.
The album was recorded in Cleveland, Ohio; the band was then located in Bowling Green, Ohio. "This One" features live favorites such as "Anymore," and many of the songs still appear regularly in The Big Creak's live set.
Although "This One" is not officially considered a concept album, it follows some sort of pattern or theme, complete with an intermission. The lyical content ties the music together in a way that is on the verge of storytelling, yet each song is fresh enough in relation to the last that the listener may not notice this upon the first listen.
"Sick," released in 2001, ventures toward new sounds and lyrical ideas, and although the two albums have different vibes, you can hear bits of "This One" running through the new album's veins.
"This One" is the corner piece in The Big Creak puzzle.

If you like good lyrics with your music
author: Gary Cappallo
Great lyrics, very good tunes! Paul Simon quality lyrics updated 30 years. Like a fine wine, their music has flavors of Phish, Tull, Dire Straits, with a little TMBG and Cake thrown in ... but mostly their own sound. Good, fresh stuff!

Solid pop songs with complex jam segments
author: melvin b strange
"This One" is a tale of love and loss told through the bloodshot eyes of four guys from Bowling Green State University in Northern Ohio. The songs will make you want to dance, sing along, and even cry. If you have felt the emotions they sing about, they will come rushing back to you as you check out "This One". The best track on this disk in my opinion is Crazy. By far one of the highest energy quirky songs by an independent band in the last half decade.

Ohio rocks again!
author: Bob Weaver
This CD is definitely the strongest effort I've heard from an Ohio act in a long time. I bought it at one of their shows, and if you get it at a store or online, you'll want to see them live. It's very straightforward and fun to listen to, but also very unique. Rock on...good job, guys!

The Big Creak -- Keep On Swimming
author: Mark Gentry
This One from The Big Creak takes the listener on a refreshing dip into the shallow waters of today's Rock. Sink or swim? That's the way I look at music, and this little fish just jumped ship. No fins needed here, turn on your high intake, break the effervescing surface, frolic in the wake, dive deep into the reef, and let the waves take you home.
Read my lips: This One holds so much water that these four guys should call themselves The Big Creek.
Notable tracks -- Friday Afternoon, I Know You're Crazy Anyway, and Kiss The Night Goodbye.
Can't wait to hear the next installment, This One's a gem.
