The origins of the band date back to 2004, under the name fiach le firead (ferret hunt). The initial band members featured Sean King (guitar, vocals, banjo, tin whistle), Terry Campbell (drums, percussion) and Rory Sinclair (bagpipes, guitar, vocals). The band adopted the name “Big Fog” in 2007 and now includes the additional talents of Brian Morgan (fiddle, guitar, vocals), Michael F. Dent (lead guitar, dobro, vocals) and Dave ‘Sonic’ Hamilton (bass guitar, lead guitar, harmonica, vocals), as well as numerous guests playing a variety of instrumentation (mandolin, accordion, bass, bouzouki). The result is an ensemble of energetic and creative talents producing a range of music from haunting melodies to lively jigs. Their musical style is sometimes referred to as “rockin’ celtic”, or “world blues”, but they try to “Celtify” everything they perform, whether it’s covers of classic Bob Dylan or Rolling Stones tunes, traditional Irish folk songs, or more moden pop songs.
