Born in Atlanta, GA by the age of 8 he was already singing with his older brother’s band. By age 12 he started singing in the Doowap groups, to the likes of the Temptations, Delfonics, Chi-Lites and that is where the tight harmonies came from. Later Grady would stop all together because his voice changed. Shady started out singing tenor, by age 15 the tenor had changed to a deep baritone. He then went solo and started singing in the various talent shows, to the likes of Barry White, Al Green, and Teddy Pendergrass.
