this is a great showcase for the undeniable worldwide popularity that blues music enjoys.
the lead-off "whats wrong with that" has some fine slide-work from big gilson over the wolf's growling vocal that is an excellent sample of gilsons knowledge of the delta masters.
the rocking "hint of a smile" is a sly bar-room tale of a young lady who's really "stacked at the back"
lulu boogie rocks from start to finish
while a softer allman-esque "black haired lady" is an ode to gilson's lovely wife helena, and the wolf brings this one home with a very soulful expressive reading.
we had three favorites though...
the fellas really got into a cover of "tore down" while another "feel good" party anthem "mine all mine" has the theme of bringing your own booty, because as the wolf explains, the lady he's with is strictly hands off to anybody else - and the slow blues of "ramshackle town"...an incredible solo from big gilson and haunting lyrics from the wolf which was for us the highlight of the set.
