Mark “ Big Poppa” Stampley is a renaissance musician for the new millennium, he is a multi-style guitarist and vocalist, who performs and records in a variety of music idioms. His recent CD, HERE COME BIG POPPA STAMPLEY is blues drenched mix of his “Carriblujazzean “ sound with urban blues like “”Co-dependent Blues”, and “Lips”, country soul with “Ain’t Gonna Rain Forever” (co-written with the Chi-Lites, Antwan Hardy), and Caribbean – flavored “ Love and Careers” with 6 other tasty musical dishes.

Mark has covered a lot of musical ground over the years doing over 1000 performances.
First, he was a sideman and later the frontman for his group Eclypse of the Moon. He began it in the 80’s, and has been in big demand in various incarnations ever since. (ECLYPSE, II ECLYPSE ) He has also worked with a variety of bands as a sideman for hire.
Mark has been in big demand as a studio guitarist, and as and educator/ethnomusicologist with his company MUSIC HISTORY-IN-MOTION doing performances and workshops in schools and libraries in different parts of the country

Arts Education Programs in the Schools
Mark formed MUSIC HISTORY-IN-MOTION in 1997 after doing a performance at the request of a Chicago area school teacher. His performances and workshops developed into highly sought after programs that supported the curriculum taught in areas of music, history, and language arts, theater, and after school programs, and Blues in the Schools. Mark’s MHIM programs worked with over 25,000 students, K-!2 in Illinois, Kentucky and South Carolina. Also doing programs for libraries, alternative High Schools, and rehab programs.
