Album Notes

CD 1 in a special limited edition 3 CD set of talent from the town of Huddersfield in the UK. The Timeless Music Project celebrates three years of the Timeless Festival with CD1: Urban, Hip Hop, Chill.

The idea for a compilation CD arose quite naturally out of the Timeless Music Festival held in 2002, 2003, 2004..... Developed by local independent record label Chocolate Fireguard (in partnership with Huddersfield Pride) young regional talent was showcased on two stages in the grounds of Ravensknowle Park, Huddersfield alongside national and international artists including Freestylers, Zion Train, Pee Wee Ellis, The Selecter, The Bays, Fingathing, Root Jackson and in 2004 Lo Fidelity Allstars, Jehst, Snowboy and the Latin Section, Fat City Soundsystem.....Check out www.chocolatefireguard.com and www.myspace.com/chocolatefireguardmusic

The three Cds in the Sounds From The Big Town series celebrate some of the outstanding homegrown talent active in one of the largest towns in the UK. We have also included two honorary Huddersfield bands from the Twin Town in France, Besançon!

Some of the artists may have recorded in commercial studios, some may have recorded themselves on low budgets but what is obvious here is the sheer passion, dedication and raw energy of the bands and artists.

Huddersfield clearly has a thriving music scene, this is the tip of the iceberg and we simply ask you to check it out!

Ambitious and bold; this is a wild collection of different genres. The compilation contains seventeen action packed tracks, which are mostly unique and rarely ‘run of the mill’. This is a very strong collection: you’ll be treated to a fine assault of the senses as the insidious tones slowly work on your brain. Elements of trance will draw the listener in and spit them back out with powerful break-beats, and touches of acid house and some indescribable works that succeed in reviving tried and tested formulas. There is a tendency to be thrown off balance by the variety, due to a mixture of easy listening and this is quickly subdued as the tone descends and deepens.

About time someone did something. Huddersfield has a great music scene and there is some serious talent on this great looking CD. Make sure you check these bands out. This is my personal favourite of the three CDs but best of all, buy the box set
