Album Notes

The debut album by Bill Carleton, titled "As Promised" is a set of songs meant to provide hope and understanding during tough times. All twelve songs were written during the course of three months late-summer, 2003 -- and they embrace the feelings behind heartbreak, family, long-distance relationships, friendships and love. The album tells an honest story, written at the time for self-preservation. Now it's something that will hopefully help others, and if not, solid melodies will still be there to listen to. Born and raised in Connecticut -- Bill graduated from the University of Delaware in 2001 where he played both solo and band gigs at large venues such as the Stone Balloon, Klondike Kate's, The East End Cafe and The Brickyard. Bill's career has made several shifts ranging from being a Senior Editor for ieMagazine (formerly GameWEEK) to a Social Services Director at a skilled nursing facility. Up until the summer-2003, Bill's music was kept on the backburner. When he had a break up with his girlfriend of 3+ years and his mom was diagnosed with cancer all in a month's time, songwriting was the only way to start to cope with it all. Since then, Bill's music has been a priority in his life, while his jobs sustain his dreams. Bill Carleton has packed pure acoustic and electric energy with the songs on his debut album -- coming from influences such as Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, U2, Steely Dan, Sting, The Eagles and Counting Crows.

Extreme Talent
author: Michele
Seeing how Bill's music has grown in leaps and bounds over the years, this impressive c.d. shows him at his most vulnerable and it's quite beautiful. The open, raw honesty of his lyrics can be related to on many levels and the overall musicianship is tremendous.

Great cd for any occasion...
author: Derek
I got a copy of this cd a few weeks ago and I must say it's a great little number. Good musicianship; and good, meaningful lyrics written by Bill himself. My favorite song is "Moments Of Serendipity". I have to be honest and say that this particular genre of music isn't my favorite, but, having listened to other stuff of the same genre, this is just as good if not better than any mainstream or well known stuff that you might find. Check it out!

Each track is filled with beautiful lyrics and exquisite music. The album is very personal and soothing, which makes it one you just don't want to miss! "As Promised" presents music that everyone can relate to and is quite charming. The artist's motivation and skill shines through each song on the album, thus making it a true work of art. "Breathe" is amazing; my personal favorite thus far. Keep it up Bill!!
