Album Notes

** Bill Carleton Band is the Hartford Advocate's Reader's Poll Choice 2006 Winner for: Best Duo (Bill Carleton and Lee Sylvestre), Best Bassist (Dan Prindle) and Best Drummer (Travis LaMothe)**

With lyrical songwriting and a universal emotional appeal, Bill Carleton has spent the last decade impressing audiences all over the Northeast. Influenced by Shawn Colvin, similar to John Mayer, and evoking Dave Matthews in his shows, Bill remains brilliantly unique - a talented songwriter with his head in the clouds, and his feet firmly grounded in everyday life.

Bill plays his songs solo, in an acoustic duo or trio, and with the Bill Carleton Band in some of the best venues in the Northeast, including the The Common Ground (Cambridge, MA), Coda (New York City), Kenny's Castaways (New York City), Webster Theater (Hartford, CT), Main Pub (Manchester, CT), The Stone Balloon (Delaware) and The Space (Hamden, CT).

The Bill Carleton Band line-up includes Lee Sylvestre (lead guitar), Tony Parlapiano (piano/keyboards), Travis LaMothe (drums), and Dan Prindle (bass). The band also regularly features additional talent including Craig Struble from the bands Fivewise and Percy Hill (harmonica).

As a group, the band's live performances remind one of Counting Crows and the Barenaked Ladies, with electric and acoustic renditions of Bill's songs, as well as respectfully covered tunes by Bruce Hornsby, Johnny Cash, John Mayer and Men at Work.

They have shared bills with popular touring artists and bands, including Ari Hest, The Alternate Routes, Snoozebox, Mighty Purple, Joe Beleznay, RANE, Tim Blane, and Lilith Fair performer Lori Amey. Bill's fan base has grown from local to statewide, and continues to grow in New England and throughout the United States.

The full band is currently recording their latest album, Diving Dreamers (Tides Records), which follows on the heels of his first studio effort, As Promised (Independent). Released in 2004, As Promised tells a modern coming of age story of sorts - the tale of one man's victorious emergence from his quarter-life crisis.

In the past two years, Bill independently sold out all copies of As Promised via cdbaby.com and direct sales at his shows.

He performed over 130 shows in 2005, and his relentless work ethic drives him to continue bringing his music to fans along the East Coast.

Bill Carleton has created in a sense a true album. Its hard these days to actually purchase a 12 song CD that takes you on a journey. Most Cd's give you 12 songs some good some indifferent. Bill set out with a concept in mind and delivers whole heartedly. From the imagery created with his descriptive lyrics down to the elegant arrangements. This Cd delivers a variety of emotion strewn about a landscape of guitars, piano and driving drum beats. His keane ear for melody makes each and every song very palatable and pleasing to the ear. His voice is soft but endearing. Listening to this Cd from start to finish you feel as if this songwriter has brought you on a journey through personal triumph and hardships. His emotional overtones shine through but don't overbear the listener. Songs like "Sky Road" are taylor made for radio with soaring harmonies that bring to light the days of James Taylor. Bill has a little more rock than the average singer/songwriter with beautiful guitar solos that bring the songs to new levels. Mixing up ideas on songs like "Winning Streak" show you his versatility as a song writer. Every songs has a hook some subtle and some that smack you right on the face. This album is a worthy debut from any signed artist. But on the contrary this is an independent release that would fit any labels needs. This is fantastically performed, mixed and designed album. This Cd goes to show you where the music market is heading. The independent artists like Bill Carleton have a firm grasp on what sounds great and what sells. Buy this CD
