Bill Dees is rock and rolls unknown legend. You may not know him but you've heard his music.
Bill wrote or co-wrote 64 songs with Roy Orbison that Roy recorded, including the worldwide smash hits "Oh, Pretty Woman" and "It's Over". His songs have been cut by a diverse group of artists including, Johnny Cash, Al Green, Loretta Lynn, Van Halen, Dinah Shore, and The Germs.
Not just a songwriter, Bill is an outstanding vocalist, that's him singing high harmony on "Oh, Pretty Woman" and many other Orbison tunes. It is high praise indeed to be asked to harmonize with the man Elvis Presley called "the greatest singer in the world".
Bills voice has been described as "Orbison range with a soulful edge".
Amazingly through all of this Bill has remained anonymous. This c.d. "Saturday Night At The Movies" is his first release, it is filled with songs from the Orbison/Dees era including two never before released gems that the two collaborated on shorly before Roy's passing.
If you are an Orbison fan this album is a must have, get the rest of the story. If you are interested in the history of rock and roll this a piece of the puzzle that has been sadly overlooked, if you are an audiophile you will love the big room sound of the way records used to be made, or if you are just a music fan who loves great songs, discover Bill Dees.

I'm from Pampa, Texas and had a band in that was playing in Borgern 1963. Bill, myself and 3 others went to Boulder. Colorado for an extended gig at Tulagi's. I remember us singing us singing on the way up there and I would harmonize with Bill. I played sax so that was fun as well as surprising to Bill. He complimented me and I'll always remember that. On stage, Bill would get 2 words from the audience, give us a key and beat then he would sing a song he was writing in his head right then! You would swear it was pre-written. Bill, I will contact you soon for a reunion that is 46 years in the making. Mack Taylor
