I went to CD Baby to buy this CD after hearing it on my local jazz station. It is truly a delight. The group is a quintet composed of two acoustic guitars, a cello, bass and drums played with brushes. The repertory consists of some fine originals by the group, as well as fantastic and imaginative arrangements of jazz classics by Wes Montgomery, Dizzy Gillespie and Charles Mingus, among others. The sonority between the guitars and cello is luxuriant. And the cohesiveness of the group makes for very fine listening...I would almost dare to call it "Chamber Jazz", but having said that, let me tell you, this group has fire. They stimulate the intellect of the listener for sure...but they also tug at his or her heartstrings. If you want to give yourself, or a music loving friend a real treat, get your hands on "Deux", by this fine group, Billet-Deux!
