Thanks to all of the great musicians who grace this album. To: Anne, Rick, Adam, Andrew, Ernie, Dave (Derge), Dave (Enos), Mark, Mike, Eric, Kevin, Gary, Katisse, Scott, Stan, Andy, and Jeff..... your artistry has breathed life into my compositions and arrangements. Thanks to my family for their undying love and support of me, my music, and all of my crazy pursuits!
Since I was in high school, I have always loved the process of arranging with a piano, pencil, and paper. Then later giving that work to a band or orchestra to play. There is almost nothing more thrilling to me than that experience. This CD embodies that thrill by using an ensemble whose size (octet) and flexibility allow me to orchestrate and arrange as well as perform in venues of many different sizes. I can achieve a big band sound (if necessary) with out a vast number of players. These arrangement are exactly as played by The Bill Fulton Band when playing live. Overdubs are minimal as I wanted to capture a very interactive, live, organic sound. Though the pencil and paper have given way to the computer and my beloved Sibelius Software, the process is still the same. That thrill of conception to a performance by great musicians will always be there.
Bill Fulton uses Sibelius Notation Software, MOTU Digital Performer, Kurzweil and Yamaha keyboards.
