Album Notes

B-Sides and Bums contains 19 songs written and recorded by Bill Gaunce from late 2007 through June 2009. These roots-rock "blues tinged" songs were all recorded in Bill's home studio The Crow's Nest located in Norfolk Virginia. Eleven of these songs were previously released as a download only album entitled "From The Crow's Nest".

Ain't that a Shame was co-written with Steve Soucy. Ain't That a Shame and Half Past Three also feature Steve's keyboard work. Wade Mosher plays slide guitar on Dark Days, all other instruments and vocals are performed by Gaunce.

The songs here are an ecletic collection with themes ranging from the perils of the "down and out" (Ain't That A Shame, Dark Days), hope and moving forward in tough times (Dark Days, Loserville), a cynical look at current world and personal situations (Everybody wants To Get High, Gas High Life Cheap, Mr. Jaded), a couple of light songs thrown in just for fun (Crazy Girl, Say Yeah). "That's The Way To Do It" ventures into the underbelly of society to tackle a story of rape and murder.

Bill Gaunce serves up some tasty tracks in this super cool album. A perfect combination of Wilco, Petty, and Dylan. If you haven't heard tracks like "Half Past Three," "Loserville," "De Ja Vu Blues," "Everybody Wants To Get High," and "Dark Days," you owe it to yourself to dive right in.
