It is my priviledge to feature La Vonne Tyus as the pianist on the more ambitious selections on this album. She truely bridges a gap of time from the late 1940's(Roy Porter "There and Back" pg. 62&141) to this present project."Back to Basics" is a foward journey into our quest to explore the points of intersection in jazz,spoken word,funk and r&b. As a trumpet player and diciple of jazz I have sought to stretch myself to express my love for american art in music.
