Album Notes

This collection of distorted synth guitar and drum jams is a personal favorite. It is loosely based around the concept of social critique and resistance to social conformity. Magic, Greed, Politics, Law, Religion, Science, Philosophy, Economics, Education, Computer Intelligence, Razor Wire, Nano Technology, Data Encryption, Video Surveilance, Food Banks, Crowd Control, and Credit Reports. Each successive track reveals another mechanism of restriction and social control, until finally the body totally succumbs to the Will of the MAchine. But all is not lost and in the end we see; as in "Pennies from Heaven," or "Brazil," the Hero's Spirit remains undaunted and triumphant. He is eternally thumbing his nose at empty convention. Refusing to relinquish Freedom of Thought, we find him sitting on the porch of an old farmhouse, jamming on guitar as the sun sets in the distance, he is loving life and living in the moment as if nothing had ever happened. The almost total control of the MAchine has been broken by the indomitable spirit of life.

The Style is minimalist, experimental, and all the pieces were created just for the fun of it. No flashy solos or big drum kits to impress the audience, just the basic necessities. Turn it up loud. Now, turn it up even louder. That's right. Nice job.

Additional note: The original working title for this CD was "Music for Microbes" which was also the working title for the song that was eventually named "Thought I told you Once Before." The lead melody line of that song sounds to me like swarms of bacteria -- as well as sounding like a nagging "Charlie Brown Schoolteacher."
