Album Notes

BILL are a rock band, started in 1987 in new england and fronted by Bill Gage, a singer with ds (down syndrome). The group was named after one of the few words Bill can write, making it simple for him to create the logo. Bill Gage sings surreal, ever-changing lyrics in a wide variety of styles... bluesy yowls, soulful moans, punky shouts, romantic crooning, throat-singing and more. These different approaches reflect Bill's reactions to the diverse sounds his bandmates provide him: spacey art-rock, thundering heavy-metal, acoustic folk ballads, stuttering industrial riffs, etc.

BILL's approach to songwriting is always in flux. The first album BEATLES CHINESE was shaped by a series of challenges the band gave Bill: first to name the songs he wanted to do, and then to sing them, as the band figured out what to play behind him and each song was quickly recorded. The backing tracks for BILL's second record BAT MAN were recorded in advance. Bill listened to the tracks, sang over them, and then named the songs (and the record).

The band includes Daren Follower, Eric Morin, Gaylen Moore, Greg Ansin, and Bill's brother john (who runs this page).

People may come to the BILL show the first time to see what the hubbub is about, but they return for the rock spectacle. Bill Gage is a born performer, and his connection with an audience is immediate and electric.

Power, Passion, Poignancy

I'm totally fascinated and enthralled by this band. they have everything a great rock band needs, in my opinion; tight musicality, hot licks, a huge presence, and more originality than any band out there. And I haven't even mentioned the charisma of their singer yet. Bill Gage presents his lirycs with overflowing enthusiasm, passion and power. From the poignancy of "All my Heart and all my Life", the raw roaring "Big Foot", and my personal favorite, "Bad Clothes", this album will likely be the most unique rock record you've ever heard. No, you may not understand the lyrics, but when they're delivered with that much passion, who cares? You'll like them! Just goes to show that music is absolutely universal, and no matter who you are, what you do or what limitations you may have (and we all have them), music is a positive catalyst for all of us. I raise my glass to Bill Gage for rocking out with the best of them, and doing it with so much heart and sincerity. And I applaud this band for just being so damn great. Keep up the great work, and I'll be buying the next album, too! Love and best wishes from the southeast!

This isn't about Down's syndrome. If there's any syndrome at work here it's the Rock Your Ass Off syndrome. This CD is incredible - not only is Bill Gage a very unique singer, and a GREAT one, the guys behind him stir up a very intriguing blend of experimental rock, exploring all subgenres from tear-jerking ballad to heavy metal, and for some reason it never gets cheesy. It's just gripping from beginning to end - and did I mention it rocks?

This CD with rock your arse more than a horny donkey would! I played it at a afterparty this weekend and like 57 women offered me their vaginas if I could make them a copy (Of course I told them no and that they should order the CD from cdbaby instead). 9 dollars for this is like paying 5 dollars for a blowjob by Monica Lewinsky (please don't ask me to explain).
