Album Notes

Backed by a handful of local hotshots from the Boise music scene, Billy G. Camp emerges with his debut CD entitled, “Don’t Stop The Carnival”, which he has dubbed “a unique Alt. Country-Folkadelic experience”. Drawing from influences as diverse as: Tom Waits, Gram Parsons, John Hiatt, and The Allman Brothers Band, this singer-songwriter takes you on a LO-FI joyride through an eclectic sonic landscape with a “rough-around-the-edges yet passionate” delivery.

Born and raised in upstate South Carolina, Billy G. Camp grew up with music all around him. In the late 80’s and 90’s, he was a regular on the SC music scene as a bass player for several local rock acts including one that received regional attention during the mid-90’s.

Currently based in Boise, ID, he returns with a catchy, feel-good collection of songs that “grows on you like kudzu and is bound to leave you reeling from a foot-stompin’ good time!”

Classic Roots
author: Blue Boogie CD Review
"Don't Stop the Carnival" is the debut of singer-songwriter Billy G. Camp that immediately sets the man on the map of Americana music. A little exotica, some gypsy, and a whole lot of country; this album only gets better and better after each listening.

Very glad I bought this CD, my first from CD Baby.

Wow, where did he come up with the great music for the title track? The creativity Billy throws into this tune reminds me of the outside-the-box songwriting skills on Bob Dylan's new CD. That good. I really like Just Breathe and Carolina too, and am very glad I bought this CD. I'll be looking forward to hearing more of his work and hopefully catching a live show. By the way, buying from CD Baby was so easy and actually fun and entertaining; I've never had such a positive buying experience online or by phone.

Authentic
author: John Broward
Authentic. That is how I would describe Billy’s new album. I say authentic because it does not come from the place so much music comes from these days. Billy’s song list comes form the heart and is directed at the soul of his audience. I especially like Hurricane. I enjoyed dancing with my little daughter to this piece and pretending we had all the time in the world to be absorbed in this song. I really rocked to Breath because it makes me feel like I am sitting at an authentic mom and pop deli in a west coast historic down town having a hot dog and cold draft beer as I enjoy the company of good friends. Halfway to Mexico makes me feel like getting in my grandpa’s restored 1957 Chevy and hitting the road with a gang of close pals and my family. I probably would if I did not live in Hawaii. I enjoyed the entire album, but since I am limited to room, I will have to let you feel the rest of his songs on your own.
