The wait is finally over for Billy Henson’s new CD. There is a Time is a collection of personal songs and stellar musicians. Kurt Storey produced the project, and he assembled the best of the best musicians in Nashville. Legendary bass player Bob Moore (The Nashville A-Team and Elvis’ longtime collaborator) and well-loved fiddle player Buddy Spicher helped produce as well as lend their talents to the recording. Heavy-hitter songwriter/musician Shawn Camp played guitar, fiddle, and mandolin; he was joined by Guthrie Trapp, Rob Ickes, J.D. Blair, and Brent Truitt. The magic came from The Fiddles of Tennessee… producer Storey, Spicher, Camp, Michael Kott, and Maggie Estes round out the sounds to create a blend of traditional country and bluegrass.
Said Billy, “It took a long time – and a lot of encouragement from other people – for me to know that the moment was right to do this project. All the stars aligned – literally – to make a record that I have dreamed of doing for years. You cannot imagine what it is like to be in the studio with these guys who really are each the best at what they do. I was in some pretty fine company and in the most capable hands with my producers. I just trusted them and we went with what felt right. I couldn’t be more proud of this labor of love.”
There is a Time showcases Billy’s still-beautiful voice as well as his prolific songwriting. From the bluegrass-standard “Lonesome Feeling” to the classic Henry Mancini-penned “Dear Heart”, Billy exposes memories, shares vulnerable emotions about family, and even takes the listener for a ride on a rambling train.
Billy is an accomplished singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. He toured the world in the sixties with his own band as well as with Lonzo and Oscar, Pee Wee King, Red Foley, and Martha Carson. He has had over 100 songs published, recorded by Loretta Lynn, Ernest Tubb, the Osborne Brothers, Herb Pedersen, Jim & Jesse, and numerous others. After years of raising his family, he has returned to his other great passion, that of making music – but after one spin, you will know that he never really left the music at all.
