Album Notes

n the mind of Billy Rockwell resides a frenetic maestro who conducts an abstract orchestra of discarded machine musicians. The Mod Parlour Orchestra EP, dedicated to this group of imaginary musicians, explores the realm between glitched out rhythms and abstract film soundtracks. Seventeen year old Billy Rockwell has released material under a variety of guises over the years, beginning in 2001, as Destro on the Massive Transit compilation. Later that year, as Nasdweeb, he released compositions on Balanced Records' premier collection Northern Faction. During the fall of 2003 he collaborated with Sohcahtoa on a limited edition 3" CD under the name Mod Parlour Orchestra (MPO). Keeping himself locked away in the studio producing a library of tracks, Rockwell contributed to Northern Faction 2 under the MPO moniker in the direction of twisted mechanized beats. As Rockwell continues to explore layered rhythms and atmospheres in the spirit of drum & bass he strays into uncharted territory. This sound is realized through this new EP. The sixth release on Balanced Records, Mod Parlour Orchestra represents the experimental side of Balanced Records' deep urban/electronic beats and features the artwork from the seminal designer Noyz319.
