Andrew Chojnacki of Peachfuzz and Pam Moore of The Neptunas, Cheap Chick and Madame Pamita got together in a converted sweatshop and began playing together. Over one hot summer, they wrote and recorded 6 songs that tell of drug addled Hollywood, high school angst and unrequited love and sent them through the blender of Fountains of Wayne, Weezer, Cheap Trick and Big Star.
Delectable hook-laden power pop treats to sing out loud with. Andrew sings lead on three of the numbers (She Say Go, Michael Caine and Thirteen Steps) Pam sings lead on the other three (Little Libertine, Clever Girl, Song About You) and there are six instrumental versions of the same songs that you can use to make the soundtrack to your movie. yes. you can.

She Say Go comprises of six songs in all and each in its own way a complete winner. Moore who takes the lead vocal on the opener Little Libertine has a sultry velvet voice that is reminisent of Chrissie Hynde at times, full of silky confidence and knowing innocence, you can almost taste the crimson lipstick as she purrs into the microphone. The song itself is straight forward, like early riff driven Kinks, but it knows where its going, and how to get there in style. The playing is effortlessly cool, controlled swaggering pop splattered with a rock attitude, nothing is wasted, the guitar spits out down and dirty riffs like tears on a sixties dance floor. Chojnacki takes lead on She Say Go a more complex pop anthem that comes on like the Fountains of Wayne pretending to be The Greenberry Woods and getting away with it. His singing voice is perfect power pop, honeyed and bright, the song and playing are memorably winning. Michael Caine is perfectly formed hook laden popsike driven by a sheet of buzzing west coast guitars and deliciously smart arse lyrics that could sit easily on a Rock Four or Pillbugs album, it is that good. Moore brings some wistfully gentle vocals to the prettiest song of the six Clever Girl a delightful acoustic washed gem with an utterly charming melodic twist for a chorus before they put back on the rock n’roll creepers again for Song About You. It’s the sort of clever bass rumbling, burning guitar rock pop with tongue in cheek attitude that R. Stevie Moore would be proud of. Finally comes Thirteen Steps a cascading pop joy, with a melodically complex arrangement and leap into the sky playing that is impossible not to adore. Short but very, very sweet indeed She Say Go marks The Birdinumnums as a shining new light on the powerpop scene
