Soldier's Story: I wrote "Soldier" in 1999. I was preparing for a trip to Santa Barbara to attend a one-week retreat with Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh. While doing walking meditation in the forest behind my apartment building a feeling of great light arose in me. Tears started to flow, as my heart opened. And the music and lyrics for Soldier were brought to life. The cover photo is of China Beach in the distance, a popular vacation spot, and where American soldiers first landed in Vietnam during the War. The photo was taken by me while part of a delegation with Thich Nhat Hanh in 2007. I played these three tracks for fellow delegates along our journey, "To heal the remaining wounds of war."
