This music is from our earliest village memories, songs our parents sang to us, the polyrhythms we danced to in the moonlight. Recorded with only our voices, hand drums, percussion, and acoustic guitars, it brings a message of love from the African soil

Nigerian master musician Babá Ken Okulolo and his musical brothers are among the few top contemporary West African musicians with deep roots in African folk and palmwine music. This is the music they grew up on, music that was played under the moonlight. Together they bring to life their earliest village memories with harmonious voices, melodic guitars, and traditional percussion instruments. This gentle but joyously rhythmic music is a special treat for those who enjoy authentic African sounds. Songs and rhythms from the Urhobo, Yoruba, Itsekiri, Hausa traditions, plus pidgin English, are heard. Children will love and dance to these songs, too.
"In Nigeria, music is created to help people rise above the pain and suffering of daily life, to transcend all evils with the joy of music. This album brings a message of love, from the African soil which gave birth to us all, and from our blessed ancestors, to whom we offer thanks and praise." --Baba Ken Okulolo

author: Jeffrey Miles
Wonderful, smooth vocal harmonies (similar to Ladysmith Black Mombazo) with pretty guitar work and interesting rhythms. Some of the vocals are a little repetitive - I would have liked to hear more guitar.
