Black Angel plays soul music with a modern lyrical twist. Taken from classic influences like William Bell, Mitty Collier, Laura Lee, to more well-known classic soul artists like Al Green, Etta James, Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack.... the list is endless.

Black Angel is From Portland OR, where they have established a faithful following honing their powerful live shows. Black Angel is fronted by two lead singers: Tahoe Jackson and JR Pella. Two seasoned professionals but they still have the exuberance of little kids singing into a hairbrush while the music is blaring from the portable AM radio. This exuberance was later molded into the passionate songwriting of Pella/Jackson. Part sad blues songs mixed with modern irony, the songs on their new release BITTER SUITE are filled with moments of humor, rage, and love, but blended with the elements of classic soul. Imagine Otis Redding on Paxil, Etta James after therapy, Stevie Wonder without the Zen. One listen to Bitter Suite and you will see that Black Angel is the real deal.
