Album Notes

The New Black Eagle Jazz Band is a seven piece band consisting of cornet, clarinet/alto Sax, trombone, piano, banjo/guitar, drums and string bass.

The New Black Eagle Jazz Band, now in its 34th year, plays traditional jazz. This style covers a wide range from the early New Orleans style; of the 1920's; 1930's small band jazz; the revival of the 1940's and 1950's; and original pieces written by a number of band members.

Our repertoire of over 600 numbers includes tunes made famous by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and many other musicians who led the way in the early days of jazz. The breadth of our repertoire includes spirituals and gospel; blues; rags by such composers as Scott Joplin and arranged for the band; old pop tunes from the start of the 20th century to the 1960's; and any other material that we feel will fit the style of the band.
