"Laura Blackley's music is bluesy, gritty, swampy, and downright sexy. And if that don't work for you, she'll pull up her boots and get country on your ass..."
-Al Kaufmann, Creative Loafing
"'Liquid Courage' is a reminder that there was a time before Americana got so damn cutesy... there's plenty here to love on this simply exceptional album..."
-Aiding and Abetting e-zine
"Liquid Courage," the 3rd release from the Laura Blackley Band, the Asheville, NC-based Americana/roots experience, offers the raw, painful, and dirtier side of roots music, with stories of tragic heroes, love, grief and redemption. The songs on this CD have the resonant, mysterious quality of Gillian Welch -- but with more of a gritty, kick-a** quality, and a full-bodied, hard-playing band behind them. Laura Blackley's voice is indelibly memorable, some of the recurring themes are unusual and compelling, and the overall effect is take-no-prisoners terrific.

I love the country/pop/blues compisition mixed with the lyrics. Every song tells I story, almost mystical. Indeed Laura and her Band have taken their music to the next level. My family listened to the CD over and over again over the Labor Day weekend. My parents asked if this is Bonnie Rait? They love Bonnie! Great work! My guess is this CD continues to be a hit.
