ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Blanks are (in alphabetical order) Sam Lloyd, Philip McNiven, George Miserlis and Paul F. Perry.

Here is their tale:

Sam, George and Paul met as students at Syracuse University. Then they moved to Los Angeles (not together and not at the same time so don't get any ideas) where they met Philip. Philip told them he was from Canada. He lied. He was born in Philadelphia. But they all liked to sing, so they did. Sadly, no one heard them so they couldn't prove it.

Some years later Sam got on a TV show. "Let's sing at the Christmas Party for the TV show I got on," said Sam. "Okay!" said the others. And they did. They sang their famous version of the John Williams Superman Movie Theme with original lyrics by Paul. (A song that is not included on their CD because the company that owns the rights to the song is very mean.)

The producers from the TV show that Sam got on said, "That was cool! We'll put your group on the show!" Sam, George and Paul said, "Great!" Philip said, "Eh."

After being on the TV show a few times, George said, "Let's make a CD." Paul and Sam said, "Okay!" And Philip said, "Eh" again, but he was still born in Philadelphia.

They worked their butts off for a long time (they look strange from behind) and produced the best CD they could. It included all the songs that they had performed on Scrubs up to that time, some personal favorites, a few originals and some "candid" recordings of the cast members and creator of the show.

"Let's sell it on CDBaby.com, eh!" someone said (I think we know who), and they did.

THE END

THE BLANKS' PLEDGE: Except for talking toys, hand claps, finger snaps and thigh slaps, there are never more than four Blanks voices at any time--yea, even on "Six Million Dollar Man."

Sam and Paul say, "We're also members of the Beatles cover band The Butties (wwwthebutties.com). Our Christmas album, 12 GREATEST CAROLS--featuring "Joy To The World" as heard on "Scrubs" and the film "Christmas with the Kranks" with Tim Allen--is also available on CD Baby."

George, The HAIRY Blank, says, "IF YOU WANT ANOTHER CD with THE BLANKS that Neil Flynn and Ken Jenkins love... Please visit www.georgemiserlis.com to listen to The Blanks on Track 4 of BIG CITY SESSIONS, which is his CD with a 24 piece orchestra. It features a rare Blanks performance on Track 4, along with Blank & Emmy Nominated, Paul F. Perry's original lyrics to an old Greek classic on Track 8! Makes for the PERFECT Birthday, Fall, birthday, anniversary, or Sessy Birthday GIFT!"

jeff

really fun stuff
I didn't know much about The Blanks beyond their Scrubs appearances, but I am a fan of acapella groups, so I bought the CD after listening to a few tracks.

The CD is a bunch of fun, tho I think the cast interstitials are unnecessary and don't serve the album well; they merely (a) sound bad and (b) set up Sam Lloyd to be more like his character, Ted, than perhaps is healthy. :)

Still, the vocals are top notch, the production is very clean, the few originals are rather nice -- I can't stop singing "Jimmy Durannn-te!" -- and I like supporting character actors in side projects, so this all tied in rather nicely.

Now I need to gas up the van and try to make it Vermont to hear Sam's other side project, The Butties...

brilliant
brilliant CD - can't stop listening to it - crazy guys!

Really fun CD!
This CD is great! My dad sings in a barbershop singing group and also loves the tv show Scrubs so this CD was perfect for him!

These guys literally swing out of town!!
Not only have I listened to this CD non-stop since receiving it, but I've shared it with many of my friends and associates who have also pledged that they will buy it...Sam, I expect a good 15% cut...my favourite tracks are the quirkier ones: Testy Tiger(and various reprises), Charles in Charge, and others. That said, however, their version of I'll Be Seeing You blew me away with both its technical perfection and its heartfelt tone. These guys are good. Very good. Be scared...

This CD puts a smile on your face
If you are a fan of the TV show Scrubs, you'll love this music. It will absolutely make you smile.

Great songs, but the cast was dissapointing
The only bad thing about this CD was the cast. They seemed to give Sam Lloyd a hard time. But other than that, the CD is brilliant. The songs are great, esp. "A little polish" and "the ballad of jimmy durante", and of course their version of "superman". Worth every penny.

Barrie

Excellent CD
My husband and I are fans of Scrubs and both really have enjoyed Teds Band in the show, so when we saw there was a CD available we knew we had to get it. I love their rendition of Superman! Excellent singing by the men, some strange songs/or addition of people talking to people from Scrubs. Overall an excellent CD
