Album Notes

DAN BLEGEN - CLUTTER and SPACE

Native Minnesotan and current Utah resident Dan Blegen is one of the most unique artists to come along in quite a while. Dan's music is a wide open melange of musical styles from old school pop to lounge jazz to blends of reggae and rock, all filtered through a bizarre lyric sensibility that draws from beat poetry, comic book tragedy, and a supremely ironic "outsider" perspective. Clutter and Space was produced by one of Dave Pomeroy's longtime collaborators, Russ Pahl, who plays various guitars and steel, and features Dave on various basses, monster multi instrumentalist Jim Hoke on saxes, harmonica, autoharp, and keyboards, Paul Scholten and Tommy Harden on drums, percussion and various loopy sounds. Imagine R. Crumb as a singer/somhgwriter and you have some idea of the zany world of Dan Blegen.
