Album Notes

"Brandon Louis Jones is an excellent guitarist. Vibrant musicality and technical precision flow together naturally when he plays." -Christopher Parkening

Brandon Louis Jones' sharp and unique interpretation of music for the classical guitar has earned him several prestigious accolades, including 1st prize in the 2005 ASTA California State Solo Competition in San Diego, 1st prize in the ASTA/Green Classical Guitar Competition in Los Angeles, and 1st Prize in the 2005 Pepperdine University Concerto Competition in Malibu. He received the 2004 Undergraduate Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Inc, the organization well known for presenting the Grammy Awards. Jones has also performed as a featured soloist with the Calabasas Chamber Orchestra and the Pepperdine University Symphony Orchestra.

Jones began to play the guitar at age 13 with an emphasis in rock and jazz, and later switched over to study classical guitar at age 18. After less than two years of classical study, he was awarded a full scholarship to be Christopher Parkening's first private student in the new classical guitar department at Pepperdine University, in the fall of 2002. Having recently graduated from Pepperdine, he is currently pursuing a Masters degree in guitar performance at the University of Southern California under the tutelage of Scott Tennant. Jones' experience in rock and jazz guitar gives his classical works an added sense of life and energy. He presents a diverse repertoire encompassing everything from Renaissance pieces to virtuosic contemporary works.

This CD introduces three new works into the Classical Guitar repertoire. "Enlightenment," written by the contemporary jazz guitarist Andreas Kapsalis, and "Crimson" and "Grace" by the up and coming classical guitarist Jonathan D. Roth.

Stay tuned for Brandon Louis Jones' new CD scheduled for release in August 2006. This album will feature new works composed by Brandon Louis Jones, and other works by Assad, Barrios, J.S. Bach, Telemann, Sor, and more.

REVIEWS

An amazing CD from a very talented up and coming musician

Wow! On some of the tracks, I could've sworn that there were multiple guitarists playing together. Jones must have sprouted a few extra fingers to play the complex harmoney and alternating themes through out the classical and some recently composed pieces. A must have for any fan of classical guitar.
