Album Notes

Formed in 2002 by ex Archie Bunker members Henry Vasquez (drums) and Dave Gryder (organ/electric piano). The band quickly established itself as a formidable live act with the addition of ex Las Cruces vocalist Mark Zammaron. 2004 saw the self titled debut CD released through Brainticket Records garnering critical acclaim for its fresh approach to classic heavy 70's rock. Drawing on inspiration from classic heavy bands like Deep Purple, Grand Funk and Humble Pie, the band continued to spread their heavy rock sound in the heat soaked regions of Texas! In 2005 their sophomore effort "In Blood We Rock" saw the vocal duties being taken over by drummer Vasquez. More rocking and intense than the debut, these songs translated into a wild storm of hard rock mayhem on the live front with Vasquez pulling double duty on vex and drums. Shortly after the band embarked on their first European tour with Versus the Stillborn Minded and Spancer as support. A year later the band was to hit the main stage as a co-headlining act at the infamous Roadburn festival in Holland. Another European tour followed in 2006 with Spanish doom band Glow opening. In 2008 the band brought in Derek St. Holmes of Ted Nugent fame for guest vocals on a new album entitled "Death Ride" Sounding as strong as ever St. Holmes vocals brought the bands sound to a new and stronger level. Glowing reviews worldwide and strong album sales prompted the band for yet another European tour this time with Mos Generator as support act. In 2009 Blood of the Sun continue to dominate on the live front and plans for a new release by years end will keep this band in everyone's ears for a long time!
