Play "Quiet Waters" to help you gently wake up in the morning. Play it to calm your frazzled nerves driving to or from work during your long commute in traffic. Play it to help you stay focused at work. Play it when you get home in the evening to relax. Play it to relax in the bathtub! Play it to help your baby or child get to sleep. Play it to help you go to sleep at night. Play it when you pray or meditate. Play it when you are studying. Play it while the congregation comes into the sanctuary. Play it while they exit. Play it over your church's telephone system. ♫
Some of the comments Barb has received from friends, store managers, and listeners of her CD are: It's wonderful", "delightful", "I have been listening to it all day long", "relaxing", I love it!", "...inspiring", "peaceful", "easy to listen to over and over again", "it's not like I'm listening to the same thing over and over", "extremely beautiful", "it's the only CD we listen to", "we put it on as soon as we come home from work", "I listen to it in the car to de-stress", "I listen to it every night before I go to bed - it helps me sleep". Quiet Waters has been played on a church telephone system and has also been played at churches as people enter the sanctuary on Sunday mornings. It has been played as people were seated during a concert, and played during receptions, banquets, and funerals.
Quiet Waters combines more recent contemporary hymns with older, familiar pieces. More and more people are listening to classic hymns. Their popularity has been increasing since even contemporary artists are using them more and more in their repertoire. Older hymns are beautifully written and have a unique charm. They are attractive to young people as well as older worshipers. Even contemporary church services are adding more and more classic familiar hymns to more contemporary sounds in their services. Listening to beloved older hymns takes us back to a sweeter, more innocent era.
Barb has been playing piano at church functions over the years. She loves to play, and has within the last several years been playing at special events around the greater Cincinnati area for some extra income. To build up her business, she decided to record a demo CD that she could give out to places that host special events.
While she was recording her demo at the Praise Factory Recording Studio, here in College Hill (in greater Cincinnati), owner, Bishop Todd O'Neal happened to stop in. After listening to her music, he encouraged her to record a full-length CD. Her husband, Steve, and their son, Joshua have both been telling her over the years that she should record her music. After the demo was completed, she began recording some hymns. Barb often plays the piano to de-stress. She has several instrumental albums at home that she listens to when she needs to relax also. She wanted her music to be that way. One day, while she was playing, the Lord, she believes, gave her the title "Quiet Waters." Her hope is that besides being glorifying to God, that "Quiet Waters" will help to quiet and lift your spirits.
Barb's mother, Ruth Lemon, did the beautiful watercolor on the cover. To order a frameable matted watercolor print of this painting, or lovely note cards, (minus her photograph, piano keys, and type), email Barb at barbtelecsan@aol.com. Specify size for frameable matted print.
Quiet Waters is also for sale in a number of local retail and Christian bookstores in Cincinnati.
Barb feels that God has been giving her messages of encouragement over the last several years. One thing she wants to say to others is, if you have a passion, no matter how old you are, let God guide you and show you what He wants you to do. God encouraged her through others' encouragement or things she would read, hear, or see. He can do the same for you if you allow Him to.
Barb is also available to play at special events. She plays popular music as well as gospel. Recently she has been playing quiet background music for monthly healing services at College Hill Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, Ohio (first Sunday of each month at 5 PM.) She recently played at Miami University's 200th celebration alumni fundraiser banquet at the Oscar Event Center (Cincinnati). April 21st, she will be playing at the CCV (Citizens for Community Values) fundraiser banquet at the Xavier University Cintas Center (Cincinnati). You may contact her via email, barbtelecsan@aol.com.
