ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
BLU7 is a Denver based jazz group. Formed in 2007 by trumpeter/composer James Barela, their style is truly unique. They combine modern jazz (ala Miles Davis or Herbie Hancock)with world music and contemporary beats. Their debut CD, CULTURAL INSTIGATOR, features eight original tunes that fuse hip-hop with flamenco, industrial with Indian, and add some bossa nova and r&b induced jazz to that mix. The members of BLU7 are James Barela (trumpet) and have included EJ Delgado (guitar), Rachel Delgado (Piano, synth, rhodes, organ), Justin Vogel (bass), Mitchell Anthony (drums), John Matteson (piano, keyboards) Fred Watstein (bass), Joe Thomasula (drums), and Tony Deaugustine (drums). Each musician brings with them specialized talents and styles that allow for an even more ecclectic sound.
