Nona Hendryx (Composer, Lyricist, Arranger & Music Producer for BLUE) began her career with the groundbreaking group Labelle, culminating with their No.1 record "Lady Marmalade." Solo recordings include the Grammy-nominated "Rock This House" and the hits "Bustin' Out," "Keep It Confidential," "Transformation" and "Why Should I Cry?".
In this Original Cast Recording, Hendryx has created a ficticious greatest hits collection for the character Blue WIlliams, comprising the songs Broadway veteran Michael McElroy ("Rent", "Miss Saigon") performs in BLUE.
BLUE is written by Charles Randolph-Wright and directed by Sheldon Epps ("Play On!"). It is presented by the Roundabout Theatre Company and is currently on a Road Tour of the United States. Upcomng dates are: Pasadena Playhouse, CA to 10/13/02, Arizona Theatre, Tuscon, AZ from 10/19/02 to 11.9.02, Arizona Theatre, Phoenix, AZ 11/14/02-12/01/01, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Miami, Fla, 12/2/02 to 12/29/02 and Paper Mill Playhouse, Milburn, NJ 1/8/03 to 2/9/03. Brilliant discovery of emotional treasures encased in a timeless world
