Nearly two years in the making, "Just Dreams" celebrates the band's established progressive and atmospheric style whilst breaking new ground with its sonic diversity. Blue Flux's trademark guitar playing is nothing short of iridescent, yet forms just one of the many peaks in the album's rich soundscape.
The haunting mood set by ambient tracks like 'The Rock' or 'In my Dreams' is often swept aside, be it by the sheer exuberance of 'Summerwings' or by the snappy '147'. And then there's the hard-hitting vocals of 'Immunity', or perhaps the Crimson-esque angularity of 'Tantrum'...
For all its variety, "Just Dreams" is probably the most accessible Blue Flux album to date. Light and shade, splash and ripples, the deep breath before the plunge - it all helps to sustain that visceral throb, deep inside, like an expertly bowed string. Meticulously crafted and brimming with new ideas, "Just Dreams" is a splendid showcase for a band at the height of their musical creativity.
Band History
Now into their second decade of musicianship, Blue Flux have long since found a home in the Acoustic and Atmospheric Rock genre "with a warm slice of prog".
Previous releases include the 1999 classic "The Beach", the passionate guitar-only album "Sugarbeat" (2002) and the unmissable 1997 Flux incubator "The Riddle".
Various critics have loosely compared the Blue Flux sound to the likes of Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Radiohead and Porcupine Tree, whilst invariably stressing the band's uniqueness. With a polite and appreciative nod at the above icons, Blue Flux continue to put their very own stamp on each and every song.

A tribute to imagination!
author: Phil Stott
"Intricate but open, sensitive but purposeful – this album breaks the mould of any category you could attach it to. I loved it first and foremost for it's sheer originality, with Blue Flux's compositional prowess and superb guitar work as a close second. The lush and at times delicate production work bowled me over on more than one occasion. There are surprises throughout with ambient sounds, layers of harmony, unexpected changes, and shifting dynamics. Yet with all of this, the music remains sufficiently focussed on the ambient prog-rock genre to avoid confusion. All but one track on 'Just Dreams' are instrumental, which might alienate those listeners who expect a 50 minute vocal onslaught telling them about a better world. Instead, think of all the cool and spine-chilling instrumental passages from your favourite rock/pop bands, then intensify them by a factor of 5 and spread them over a whole album. 'Just Dreams' is not a concept album, nor is it elitist or overly introspective. But it is highly original, ambitious, a tribute to imagination and technical skill, and well worth a visit."
