A great sounding roots-rock album that is sometimes slick, sometimes soulfull, and always fun to listen to. Its one of those few discs that are solid from front to back.

notes
There is only one Blue Jimmy, and the 2005 release of their self-titled album proves it. While most groups rely on their few strong aspects, this band seems virtually bulletproof. A quick listen down through the tracks of this disc reveal great songwriting, lush harmonies, and fantastic lock-down musicianship, all packaged with some very tasteful production. Their 20+ years together made it all possible. They have truly put out an album to compliment almost anyone's collection.
Recent reviews of Blue Jimmy...
"Blue Jimmy is a well-worn roots-rock quintet that shuffles country, folk, and rock into a loaded deck of fantastic Americana."
"Musicians that fall into this category --- The Old '97s, The Jayhawks, Wilco, Lucinda Williams --- often tend to lean in favor of one particular flavor in their mix. Blue Jimmy blends."
"Full of lush five-part harmonies and grooves that bop, rock, swing, and waltz, Blue Jimmy may be one of the most perfectly balanced, truly Americana bands you'll hear."
"If you wanna simplify, Blue Jimmy is a rock band. Its songs could ride in any number of vehicles. But there's an undeniable twang and the lonesome Nashville cry of pedal steel beneath storied lyrics and clever structure. Hence the country tag."
"Blue Jimmy's show is genuine roots-rock with just enough slick to hook fans who don't think they like roots-rock. Their four-part harmonies snake beautifully through the bluegrass and the instrumentation is tight. Guitarist and ex-GFI nob-twiddler Greg Gefell twangs like a Telemaster weaned on Travis and Gatton."

PICKING UP WHERE THE GIN BLOSSOMS LEFT OFF?
author: Johnny RickenbackerIf this is their debut CD I am impressed. I have no idea where it will go like most obscure bands they put out a dynamite CD and then you never hear about them again. I hope this will not be the case. But again I hear a lot of similiarity of the Gin Blossoms in their sound and I hope they don't get labeled Gin Blossom copycats. But only time will tell. Good luck Blue Jimmy. Johnny Rickenbacker
