Lovely

Heard a track or two from this at smoothjazz.com and they caught my ear, so I sampled the whole set at CDBaby, bought the album and somehow or other I just keep on coming back to it, time after time, as one of the best of its genre. Supporting Randy Rigby and Ed Edwards are Jim Fletcher (bass), Christian Teal (drums), Bob Rebholz (sax on one track), Dave Thrush (flute on one track) and Emma Saunar (background vocals on one track).
This 10 track set flows beautifully from end to end, with interesting and fluid electric and acoustic guitar lines and just a couple of quite acceptable vocal tracks c/o Ed Edwards. Everything moves along nicely, with plenty of life and a well judged sense of solidity without being loud or heavy. Most of the tracks are original compositions, the only two exceptions being covers of Joe Sample & Will Jennings' Soul Shadows and, to round things off, Van Morrison's Into The Mystic.
Produced and arranged by Messrs Rigby & Edwards, recorded and mixed by Ed Edwards at Summit Road Studios in Parker, Colorado and mastered by Dominick Maita at Airshow Mastering in Boulder, Colorado ~ yes, this really is a very professional sounding all-Colorado project and well worth getting to know. I for one am looking forward to their next album.
