ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Bluelights play “Roots Music in Overdrive.” The band formerly known as Washboard Slim and the Blue Lights draws on a wide variety of traditional music to create a new style infused with the energy of the rock ‘n’ roll. They perform pop music from the turn of the century, blues, early jazz, jug band music, standards, polka, gospel and their own version of rock 'n' roll called "jugabilly." Originally founded in 1986, they continue to perform at clubs in the northeast and occasional festivals throughout North America. Their latest recording “Rub That Rhythm” was released in November, 2006.

"Absolutely the best group since Kweskin's jug band in the sixties." - Eric von Schmidt, legendary recording artist and author.

"Their sound belongs to yesterday, to today, and if there is any justice, to tomorrow. Go see them - you'll have a ball!" Susan Forbes Hansen, Folk Radio Host, WHUS.
