Umm, nice groove from a local septet that plays instrumental dance music with solid solos on top.

Rarely does it happen to me that I have time to re-listen to a particular CD but this one...it just absolutely didn’t want to come out of the CD player compartment of my stereo.

Legendary New Orleans pianist and pioneer Jelly Roll Morton, who claimed to be the “inventor” of Jazz, was the first to identify some of the essential elements of this vibrant music he thinks he singularly developed. While no one person can be said to have invented Jazz, Morton did get it right when he first talked about the need in Jazz for a “Latin Tinge”, the inclusion of the myriad rhythms and syncopated accents native to the Spanish speaking Caribbean islands that can give Jazz part of its swagger and sway. Blue Mambo possesses that swagger and sway and bring to it melodic and harmonic augmentation by way of their blithe compositions and muscular improvisations.
Another Jazz original, Louis Armstrong, in a simplistic description of good music, defined it as “the kind of music that makes you feel better after you heard it than you did before you heard it”. All these many decades later, Blue Mambo breathes life into words of yesterday through their music today. Simply put; all these rhythms and syncopation will make you feel better.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
