Blue Pass is Montana\'s newest bluegrass all-star band! They have created a revolutionary and unique sound, based simultaneously in multiple facets of traditional acoustic music. Isaac Callender and Emily Muller Callender started the band in 2002 with local mandolinist Jesse Jones in Eastern Oregon. They began playing upscale venues and festivals throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana, culminating in a performance on NPR\'s \"Prairie Home Companion\". The latest incarnation of Blue Pass features renowned fiddler and mandolinist Justin Branum, most recently of St. Louis, Missouri, and banjo/dobro player John Meek, originally of Delaware. With three accomplished fiddle players, three able mandolinists, four excellent guitar players, and multiple vocals, this group is able to blend textures and timbres well in a variety of styles ranging from old-time fiddle tunes to swing, as well as traditional bluegrass and scorching fast instrumentals.
