Album Notes

Blue Planet's debut CD "Out of the Blue" is the blues and more. The foundation of their music is straight-ahead, but they take the occasional side road, incorporating jazz and rock and roll elements. Once you've listened to their CD, you'll find one of the best kept secrets in the industry...explosive guitar licks, driving drum beats, sweet synthesiser and Hammond work, great vocals, and a fat syncopated bass on the bottom. All this and some well thought-out songwriting. The whole is more than the sum of the parts: this band really plays TOGETHER.

The members are:
JASON BADGLEY - keyboards, lead vocals, songwriting.
MIKE BLACKMAN - guitars, lead vocals, songwriting.
BRYAN SANTIAGO - bass, background vocals.
KIM SHROPSHIRE - drums, background vocals.

They started out as sidemen for some well-known artists such as Natalie Cole, Earl Slick, Archie Bell, and Quarterflash, to name a few. Now, as Blue Planet, they have opened shows for Little Charlie and the Nightcats, Loverboy, Joe Louis Walker, Nat Dove and others.

Check these guys out. They won't disappoint.

I'm impressed. In my opinion, over-all, this CD shows a great deal of melodic diversity and a lot of attention to dynamics in presentation. It’s as good a mix as most studio mixes I heard. Very professional, very smooth and, in some cases, very jazzy. It's cool.

This is my new favorite CD! The chemistry of these musicians is obvious, as you hear their music in this great solid blues disc. The rich sexy vocals combined with smooth & sultry instrumentals make this an album that you can listen to over and over again, as it just gets better.
