Album Notes
Blue Plate Special's newest CD is a tasteful variety of styles. Listen to a mix of mandolin, accordion, banjo, acoustic bass, guitar and strong vocals. Their witty original songs move smoothly from Bluegrass to Cajun to Swing. Three part vocal harmonies, strong instrumental solos and crisp arrangements are featured on this new CD Nowhere Fast. In addition to critical acclaim, two songs from "Nowhere Fast" have been included on nationally televised documentaries. The title cut, "Nowhere Fast" is featured on the recent PBS documentary, "The Appalachians", and "Bluebird of Happiness" is included on the History Channel documentary "Into the Fire".

Lyrical, soothing, fun music
I love the lyrical, melodious tunes on this CD. I find the music pleasing to the ear, and calming to the soul. Excellent musicianship and clear voices make this compliation of songs a winner.



FYI Great news- title cut "Nowhere Fast" will be included on the soundtrack of the PBS documentary "The Appalachians" due out Spring of 2005.

Blue Plate is diverse and they blend together fabulously. A superb mix with lots of variety and excellent sound quality. Along with strong musicianship, their songs are clear and tell entertaining stories. I have seen them perform and this recording has the feel of their very together live act. I strongly recommend this CD and seeing them live. They're the real deal!

This CD is another collection of "not a bad tune on it" originals!! Such diversity in style, sounds, moods and messages - I am a true fan.
My current two favorite songs are "Joe Ida" and "Grandma Loved Lily of the Valley".

Check out this new band from New Jersey. You'll be hearing more from them. Feel like I'm listening to an old Beatles album- plenty of variety in terms of style, but it works. If you ever wondered what the lovechild of Dan Hicks and Gillian Welch would sound like, check out Nowhere Fast.
