Once in awhile forces bring together the right mix of talent, energy, and passion for making music that is new, fresh and distinctive. Blue Roots are an example of that magic and spirit often associated with today's popular bluegrass music. This ensemble features strong lead and harmony vocals, melodic instrumentation – all backed with a driving rhythm.

Blue Roots dedicates themselves to traditions that are steeped in bluegrass music yet has an approach that a listener in and outside the genre can appreciate. This Philadelphia based bluegrass band consists of the area’s seasoned bluegrass musicians - Geoff Gay, resonator guitar, Richie Kalikow on mandolin, Dave Lucas on guitar; Ed Lick plays banjo, and Owen O'Malley, bass.

Some members of Blue Roots have shared the stage or performed with Charlie Daniels, Kathy Mattea, Kruger Brothers, Micheal Cleveland. Several have screen time in the musical documentary "Music From the Inside Out"!
