Album Notes

The Blue Sage Trio is a high energy acoustic folk trio from Utah specializing in cowboy / western music, bluegrass, and the folk songs of the west. With the release of their "Live At The Junction Theater" CD, everyone can experience the exciting blend of folk and western music Blue Sage has been bringing to audiences for the last fifteen years.

Don't just take our word for it, here's some national reviews of this CD:

"Mike Iverson has spent some 35 years working to blend American folk music with his western heritage... Live at the Junction Theater offers a mix of instrumental music and heart-tugging ballads that will surely draw listeners."

Western Horseman Magazine

"it's one of the most refreshing albums I've listened to all year. I love the simple instrumentation. You (Blue Sage) make a banjo and fiddle work together better than anyone I've ever heard - and there's nothing "showy" about it.  I hope you make this CD available to western music fans everywhere - as well as bluegrass fans.  This is outstanding material"

If you're curious about the band...

The heart and soul of Blue Sage lies within the repertoire of well known folk singer Mike Iverson. Regarded as one of the finest clawhammer style banjo players, Mike also plays guitar, mandolin, and harmonica with the trio.

Playing bass fiddle with the band is Shauna Iverson, a strong player whose driving technique powers the Blue Sage sound. Shauna's personality shines through on stage and audiences find her as much fun to watch as to listen to!

The newest addition the trio is Mike and Shauna's daughter Heather. Heather Iverson is an exciting violinist who specializes in the traditional fiddle music of America and the British Isles. With Heather in the band, we now have the ability to include traditional barn dancing as part of our programs!

I REALLY like this cd. In fact I haven't stopped listening to it since I got it. Mike Iverson is a talented musician as are the other two in Blue Sage and the whole cd has a wonderful evocative feel to it.

A diamond in the rough

Really strong ensemble work on a fine group of songs. Every piece feels authentic and unproduced, in the very best connotation of the word. I find myself listening to this over and over, as the purity of this music is so refreshing. Tremendous playing, fine singing, and a genuine respect for the genre are evident throughout.
