Album Notes

This is a great CD, made for your 'chill mode', throwing Kool B's poetry out front, with Opie & Bluesguy creating acoustic grooves...

Kool B, Opie Hendrix & Guy Schwartz ran into each other at the KPFT-FM studios at 2am on February 25th, 2002, while visiting Pat & Rosie Leech during Pat & Rosie's Nightsounds. Pat Leech invited all three to create something spontaneous and new, live on the radio.

Sometimes improvisation works OK, and sometimes it works great. This was a great improvisational performance. One voice, one acoustic guitar, and one amplified acoustic guitar.

Everything was created live in the flow, and nothing was added later.

If you are a fan of Opie Hendrix', or dig Guy Schwartz & his New Jack Hippies, this one won't be an automatic thing for you. It doesn't sound like any CD that either of them have done before. They could never have planned this!

Kool B fans will enjoy the poets deep voice and equally deep poetry. If you don't lready know Kool B, think about Mos Def (if he was from Southern Louisiana).

Fans of one are bound to become fans of all three.

This is an accidently GREAT CD!

REVIEWS

Incredible Poetry Driven by Improvisational Music
author: Sereina Starkey
Forget the weird, character-like sounding names of the artists...this is an amazing 4 o'clock in the morning after the clubs kind of thing..the "while it still feels good" glow gives this CD both edge and mellowness that keeps it on the player when you wake up in the morning. Good thing someone remembered to press the recorder..I love this CD of spoken journeys, love, schmaltz, bluebonnets and rhythmic guitars..thanks guys!

Kool B is a master poet!
author: Guillermo Slazo - Texas Music News
Kool B shines on this one! His poetry flows through the ears and into the brain, sugar-coated by chillin' acoustical beats... great stuff!
