Album Notes

Five Minutes More, the second full length CD released this year, is a slight departure from their 2004 release Tin Goose Jump. This time, the band expands to seven, featuring the clarinet of Gary Gregg in solo and ensemble arrangements. As Tin Goose Jump was mostly original material, this album now focuses on repertoire of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Some New Orleans flavor is sprinkled over tunes like Sunday, I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, and You’re a Sweetheart. The small bands of Artie Shaw and John Kirby are saluted with Waiting for O’Brien and She Doesn’t Shag. In a return to thematic album programming pioneered by Frank Sinatra, the band takes you through a week of ups and downs in the love life of a young couple…boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl again. All tracks were recorded live in one room, with minimal overdubs on a vocal here and a horn there. Roll up the rug and put some dents in the floor!
