About the Blue Voodoo

Rick "the devil" Dalgarno is highly skilled at both the rhythm and lead guitar. Rick's unique singing style and guitar playing is inspiring and captivating. He provides a raw emotion and intensity that is rooted in the blues music he performs. Rick's playing really shines through on the Delta Blues style and has a magic all his own on the Dobro.

Ted "Teddy J" Tosoff is a mainstay on vocals and rhythm guitar. His musicianship and years of performing on the road and in the studio is evident throughout his performances. His years behind the board in recording studio's producing other artists CDs gives him a special insight and ability to put out a top-notch product. The background he has developed over the years gives him a solid understanding of the overall music business.

Chris "o-tay" Weekes offers great vocals and some crazy percussion while Daniel "The Wizard" Ross rounds out the group on Bass and vocals. Chris Weekes' own unconventional percussion is a cornerstone of the group, his 'kit' complete with tambourines, exotic instruments, shakers, along with the traditional snare and bass adds to the unique sound of this West Coast Group. What sets the blue voodoo apart from many bands today is their ability to provide rich harmonies and rhythms that will captivate anyone who hears them, that is voodoo magic for sure.

The Blue Voodoo's First CD, Ride was played in 18 countries and on over 300 radio stations worldwide.
In Australia the Ride CD was named one of the top thirty blues album of the year in 2003.
In the USA, Blues DJs are saying things like: "Thank you for a killer cd! It has gotten air on both of our blues shows and will be in heavy rotation for a long time coming. I like your style and so do my listeners" that from Mark T Smith KJLU 88.9 FM Jefferson City. John Taylor of the Blues on Stage Review stated: "The roots are in the blues, but this is by no means another collection of tired riffs shoehorned into a twelve-bar structure, All in all a top-notch effort, well worth seeking out."

BLUE VOODOO WORKS ITS MAGIC
author: PEACE ARCH NEWS
Blue Voodoo works its magic Blue Voodoo's mojo seems to be working overtime. First, two band members sang on the soundtrack of Robson Arms, TV's newest comedy hit. Now the eclectic blues band has learned Sparkle and Shine, its latest CD, is up for one of Canada's premier music awards. The independent 2004 release is nominated for outstanding blues album at the upcoming Western Canada Music Awards. "It's the recognition, more than anything else," member Ted Tosoff said, noting nominees are selected by peers. The album features 13 songs by members Rick Dalgarno (lead guitar, vocals), Tosoff (rhythm guitar and vocals) and Chris Weekes (vocals and percussion) with Dan Ross (bass) and Bryon Tosoff (piano). Listeners will hear "everything from '20s blues right up to bordering on Led Zeppelin-y kind of blues," Tosoff said. The WCM awards will be presented Oct. 23 at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom. Win or lose, the nomination will raise the band's profile. Last year, a few of the band's songs were featured in the movie, Sister Blue. More recently, Tosoff and Dalgarno - both White Rock born and raised - sang the Stampeders' classic, Sweet City Woman, on the soundtrack of CTV's Robson Arms. Blue Voodoo aren't the only ones celebrating a WCMA nomination. Chris Hamilton's debut album, Sticky Situations, is up for children's recording of the year. For Hamilton, the news is a sign he's on the right track. The native Ontarian made the leap to children's entertainment in 1999, after leaving Vancouver's Clumsy Lovers for a solo career. Most songs on the self-produced, self-financed CD are original. They've withstood the scrutiny of the Surrey-based performer's toughest critics - children aged four to eight: too old for Barney, Disney or Wiggles, but too young for Hilary Duff. Ultimately, he hopes to influence other performers to change people's attitudes toward children's music, elevating expectations. "There's a lot of really good stuff, where people have put their heart and soul into it and you can't find it anywhere." He is working on his second album. The Blue Voodoo plays Sawbucks Pub Oct. 20 and 21. These guys are on top of their game
author: Dave the Woodman
These guys never let me down, there is a synergy amongst the band members that cannot be defined, only understood by and conveyed to, their audience. WOW ! it would appear that there has been some growth with these guys. While "Ride" was an excellent album "Sparkle and Shine" already shows a maturity not often seen until a band/group has reached their 3rd or 4th album. (That's just my opinion) I absolutely love the track "In The End" the lyrics are awesome and well written. I've said it before and I will continue to say it…..I trust that the universe has a plan for these guys………To the Boys of the Voodoo I say : "The world, is truly your oyster, so grab your forks boys and eat up.
