***************
This CD from Barry Mc Cabe is from his Albatross years. The main portion of the CD is a live concert from Norway, recorded at an Independance Day Festival (500 miles above the Artic Circle). Did this Irish boy ever melt the snow that day!
This concert was originally released on the Blue Horizon label as "Everybody's Got The Blues", but has been digitally remastered with bonus tracks added to bring you over 70 mins of non-stop hard rockin' blues with subtle asides to show the many hats worn by guitarist/singer/songwriter/front-man, Barry Mc Cabe.
The bonus tracks are studio outtakes, live radio performances and performances from numerous live shows recorded throughout Europe - which have never been released before!

Various comments from people who have heard "Absolutely Live Vol. 1" already.
"The feeling when Barry Mc Cabe hits the stage is akin to being on a Concorde getting into gear - one minute you're sitting there, the next airborne. Theirs is a road proven ferocity that takes no prisoners."
John O'Regan - Rock 'N' Reel - Downtown Radio

"I have received the CD in question. Take out your wallets NOW and send the required funds. If you like ballsy, screaming, wailing blues rock...with a heavy emphasis on superior slide....and I know you do, otherwise you would not be a Rory fan....BUY THIS CD. I can not say enough good things about it. Their are NO low points on this disc. Barry, and the band are a well oiled tight machine that knows how to spell ROCK. Its hard to believe that these are songs that have been done live, without edits and dubs, and then put onto disc. Its truly amazing.
"Absolutely Live Vol.1" will be a welcome, and well played addition to my many CD's. I will definitely be purchasing Vol. 2 when it arrives. Just as a word of explanation....If this CD sucked, I would say so. This review is the
God honest truth."
B. Sheldon - Manitoba, Canada

"Just had a chance to give your CD a concentrated listen. I came in with pretty high expectations, and it still amazed me! Fantastic stuff!! I need another copy for a friend who will really appreciate it."
R. Militzer - Detroit, USA

"Great stuff! Love the 'Full Moon on Main Street'. I was just listening to the Kinsey Report doing that tune the other day, and your version definitely has more fire."

Very good guitarist! Would like to see him live!
author: The Eclectic MysticI like this cd very much, although I can't hear any resemblance to Rory Gallagher. O.K. they are both Irish, enough said. This cd gets of to a very slow start, although not terrible. By song number four it gets moving (Full Moon On Mainstreet) and procedes very well. I also enjoyed the jamming on ( Night Time People) I liked this cd enough to order Volume 2.

Meet Barry McCabe
author: Richard Amery Kenora Daily Miner and NewsYou don’t really get the full impact of Ireland’s guitar god Barry McCabe’s first live CD, Absolutely Live Volume 1, from the selections offered on CDbaby, as you don’t get to hear the best tracks. McCabe, known for blending traditional Celtic music and the blues, really knows how to belt it out, not to mention tear your ears off with a shrieking solo, but then he know when not to as well. My absolute favourite track on the CD is Never Say Die, which has a great message, but also cries out for a sizzling solo, which is sadly missed, though the bluesy between chord lick is very sweet. Plus, I don’t know how he does it, but his guitar sound on one of several slower numbers, Full Moon on Main Street, is eerily reminiscent of a set of pipes. Brilliant. Other highlights include the Stonesish Freddie Wants A Cadillac and Night Time People. He plays his best when he tears it up as he does on Tempted, however much of this CD is slower blues (Walkin’ Blues, Talk To Your Daughter, Alberta and Nobody’s Girl), though still very soulful, than on his other two CDs. McCabe also does a formidable job of the Face’s classic Stay With Me. It is very cool to hear him develop further on his second live CD.
Awesome Blues Guitar and Vocals!
author: Bob HunterThis CD is a must-have for any blues guitar lover! Barry's guitar work and vocals are powerful on all the tracks. My top 3 are: Never Say Die, Full Moon on Main St., and Sweet Little Angel. His version of Alberta is excellent also! Vol. 2 will definitely be on my order list! Keep up the great music, Barry!

author: JohnBarry must have got my email from a Rory site and told me about his association with Rory. I've listened to the tracks available online and I am hooked! I'm going to order the CD as this is the first music I have heard that I think can carry the torch Rory lit! Wow! As someone who misses Rory greatly I am looking forward to more of Barry and his band and music! Thanks Barry! Now where is Gerry Mcavoy these days:) hehe Maybe Barry needs a bass platey- haha
Ya Gotta Love It
author: T.d.wI keep playing this c.d over and over. Love it!! great blues/rock a must have.
An old-style rock album
author: Rafa PorcarI've just grabbed "Absolute live No1", and I have to say it's a great album. Pure rock'n'roll, but not only; a lot of blues is inside too. The format of trio is always a very risky one, leaving so much space to every musician every single mistake sounds a lot more than in a more crowded band would do. But it's not the case, the band sounds plenty of energy, and (what's more important to me) with a great sense of control: Barry McCabe's guitar style is influenced by a huge rock and blues best tradition: Rory Gallagher (of course), but also Gary Moore and even acoustic delta blues players. But he never losing his own touch. Great selection of covers, variyng from The Faces to Robert Johnson. A great, authentic rock album.
Live, Blues Rock at it's BEST!!!!
author: JerryThis CD has all the ingredients. The band is tight, Barry McCabe sings his ass off, and there's a great vibe. The band does a nice cover of the classic J.B.Lenoir song "Talk to Your Daughters" but it's done acoustically and that is a nice change of pace. If you a fan of blues and blues rock and you like your music stripped down to the essentially, you'll love this CD.
