Album Notes

A Schools’ CD of Christmas Songs Old & New

Produced in Cumbria England by Cumbrians featuring Cumbrian Musicians and singers featuring choirs and singers from the following schools: -

All Saints Church of England School Cockermouth
St Josephs Catholic School, Workington
Our Lady & St Patrick’s Catholic Primary Maryport
Raughton Head Church of England
St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School Wigton

Brian Melville has lovingly put the whole project together. Brian runs Solway Music, an independent music support service for junior schools in the Allerdale District of Cumbria, and he has arranged traditional songs and even added new ones of his own to this magical mix of Christmas songs.

Having written the arrangements Brian then had to train the sixty or so young voices and record them. Each school had to be done separately and so the work has been intense over the past few months. Most of the work had to be done before the new school year began so some of the vocalists have moved classes and schools but we have a good representation here today from All Saints Church of England School Cockermouth,

The Mayor of Allerdale, Mr Joe Mumberson, kindly agreed to share with us on the day we launched this CD and the CD has been well supported locally, nationally and internationally. It can be obtained through any of the shops listed below OR from the schools themselves where profits from the sales will go towards school funds.
