Originally from Memphis, Tennessee,Bill Mobley has lived in New York City since 1987. He has performed in New
York with the Marvin "Smitty" Smith Sextet, the Clifford Jordan Big Band,the George Coleman Octet, the James
Williams Group, the Goeff Keezer Band, the Mingus Dynasty Band, the T.S. Monk Band, the Maria Schneider Orchestra, the Toshiko Akiyoshi Orchestra, and has led his own Space
Time Jazz Orchestra in various venues in the City. Bill has toured in Europe with his own group, and with those of
Donald Brown and James Williams. In the case of James Williams, tours also included Japan. Bill also is a regular
performer with the NuYorkestra, the Pete McGuinness Big and, the Chuck Braman Quintet and Bill's own two
groups: the Mobscene Quintet and SpaceTime big Band.
The CD Singularity features Danny Walsh, former side man with Lenny White, and currently one of NYC's most sought after reed players. Also featured is Ed Schuller, who plays and records with greats such as Joe Lavano and Paul Motian. Pete Davenport the drummer and vocalist on the cult Bluth CD is featured as well as Gary Versace on piano, who has also toured with the guitarist John Scofield. Also on the CD were bassists Carlo De Rosa, and Matt Hughes, pianist Joey Lunsford, flutists Andy Strassmich and Maria Lazzaro.
