ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is a collection of some of the most iconic music of the last 80 years, plus the highly acclaimed original, "One of These Days/The Apartment Song"
written by the artist, Bobby Belfry. Chuck Taylor of BILLBOARD said, "Belfry is one to savor, embrace, and lend the hand of fame to", regarding the tune, which features Billy Joel's saxophonist Richie Cannata.

Each song was chosen specifically to tell a 13 track story of love, desire, loss, hope, and redemption.
The musicians were chosen for their individual virtuosity and their brilliant ability to play together to create a warm,
fresh and exciting jazz vibe.

Bobby is a native New Yorker who has been singing throughout The States since the release of his debut CD, "Imperfect Rhymes".
He has performed his music at The Kennedy Center, Town Hall in NYC, Feinstein's, and The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, to name a few.
He has also sung on MSNBC, and is featured in the new music documentary by Victor Mignatti, "This Time", which also includes
The Sweet Inspirations and gospel star Cissy Houston.

Bobby can be seen as well as heard on his second recording, "LIVE:In The Heart Of The Universe", a CD/DVD.

Bobby has performed in rock bands, piano bars and as an actor in musicals, but this recording captures his true essence as
a musician. This is a deeply personal, intimate, and exciting recording that is sure to draw in you, the listener, in ways you never would expect.

The more you listen the more you love
I've been a fan of Bobby for several years... I have to admit that when I first started listening, my cynical mind was like "oh jeez, cliche vocal jazz..." and started to check out. HOWEVER this collection has some of the coolest arrangements I've heard, of songs I love (to the Trio's credit as well, I'm sure!). Of course, the original "The Apartment Song" is a favorite, and the new arrangement demonstrates that this ditty has the stuff that makes a classic. I wonder who should record it next? His Skylark took me back to the first time I heard the song, and actually brought back memories of an old crush! I love the bird-like ivory-tinkling at the beginning. One of my favorite songs of all time is Moon River. They put this in a new context, bringing it to life in the twenty-first century. And is that a nod to jingle bells? i don't know if it is meant to be or if it's a common treatment, but I likey. :)
