Album Notes

Robert Charles Huffman (a.k.a. Bobby Charles) was born in Toledo, Ohio. His first recollection of music can be traced back to his early childhood as he would often listen to his father play the family piano. Although intrigued by the piano, Bobby Charles purchased a guitar at the young age of twelve and hasn’t set it down to date! At twenty-three, Bobby Charles moved to Los Angeles, California to attend the Guitar Institute of Technology, a private music school in North Hollywood. Upon graduating, he returned to the Midwest where he performed music professionally for the next seven years. In 1991, Bobby Charles moved to Boston, Massachusetts with his wife Tracy and attended Berklee College of Music. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in music, he continued his studies in the field of music therapy at Michigan State University. Today, Bobby Charles lives outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan and works as a music therapist at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and continues to perform and record music professionally. Musical influences include, but are not limited to: Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh, Phil Keaggy, Robin Ford, Oscar Peterson, Chet Baker and Louie Armstrong.

Buy this collection! Wow what a hidden treasure. Bobby has shown on this collection to be a versatile and creative song writer and musician like most don't fully realize until you hear this album. On the days when you need light and upward lift, this album is a great tool. When you want to listen to music that takes you on a journey into joy, peace and happiness, putting you into a state of rest, relaxation and contentment without putting you to sleep, this is your tool. There isn't any music I've learned from working with Bobby at the University of Michigan, that he can't play and play extremely well. This album is representation of the tip of his iceberg and keeps his listeners in anticipation of more, more, more! Bravo, Bobby!

I got to hear this artist perform live and his guitar work was incredible; some of the best I have ever heard. This album is original and a wonderful collection of songs. I find myself listening to it a lot, and many nights will play it around bedtime because it is so relaxing to hear. There is a nice collection of accompanying artists that the musician has built into an easy listening piece. If you enjoy easy listening music this should be part of your collection.

"Forever and a Day"

Being a person who is all about lyrics and vocals in a song, I usually don’t have patience for instrumental music, but this is not the case with Bobby Charles’ “Forever and a Day.” “Forever and a Day” is a fine collection of relaxing, but never sleepy, melodies led by Bobby Charles adept guitar work and artfully accompanied by skilled musicians on various instruments. The songs manage to elicit different emotions, which is not always easy to accomplish in an instrumental song. A couple of the songs like “Prairie Dawg Companion” and “Puerto Angel” are so aptly named because of the images they bring to mind, with the help of different instruments such as the fiddle, accordion, and trumpet, that it makes you wonder… what came first, the song or the song title? Little touches like the fitting use of a rain stick on “October Rain” and wind chimes on “Morning Dance” also add to the overall finished production. The majority of the songs, like “Fly Away Jack” are upbeat and make you want to hum along, or they just take you to a happy place in your mind. My personal favorite is “Morning Dance.” Again, it’s appropriately named because it’s a pleasant, happy, melody that makes you want to do a little dance. I’m thinking if I woke up to this in the morning instead of my alarm clock, I would have a much easier time getting out of bed. All in all, I think this c.d. is a great c.d. to start your day with, to play after the end of a hard day, or maybe just to play on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
