Bad Reputation - Reviews
Every once in a while a song is written that, upon hearing it, sticks in your brain like sweet saltwater taffy sticks to your dental filling. Such a song becomes your guilty pleasure. Tantamount to that, the stories that Bobby Doran tells in each song leave you feeling like you just read the dirty secrets in the pages of your sibling’s diary. Additionally, these tunes get tangled up in your head, leaving you humming the choruses and tapping your toes for days. It is not small wonder that baby-faced Bobby Doran and his Rock band have caused so much commotion here at Colorado Music Buzz Magazine, being written up two months consecutively. Bobby Doran was born and raised on the East Coast and has been someone passionate about writing and playing music for many years and anyone listening can pick up on this experience in his creative cultivations.
Bobby Doran aptly arranges Folk/Rock acoustic guitars with retro-simplistic keys, delightful jazz-infused horns and soulful vocals. This group has developed quite a following both in Colorado as well as the on East Coast; aside from pulling it off on record, Bobby also effectively execute live performances all over the Colorado map, and frequently travel to the East Coast to entertain fans. “Bad Reputation” and “Secret,” lyrically, are songwriter genius. Bobby Doran creatively arranges music that is both technically and artistically composed. Influenced by a very diverse mix of mainstream Rock artists, such as Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, and O.A.R., Bobby Doran blends some of the familiar with their own unique Acoustic Pop/Rock twists.
In a city that produced the likes of One Republic, Flobots, and The Fray, and skyrocketed these bands into the mainstream...it would be no surprise to see this band catapulted to the same heights as some of these Denver-based legends. The commercial appeal of this group is that each track leaves you wanting more. The only disappointment is coming to the end of the disc.
